Lamberto Dini

President, Foreign Relations Committee, Italian Senate

Lamberto Dini is currently President of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Italian Senate. He was Vice President of the Senate from May 2001 to May 2006. He has served as a member of the Convention on the Future of Europe, representing the Italian Senate. Before his election to the Senate, Minister Dini held positions including Minister of Foreign Affairs, from 1996 to 2001; President of the Council of Ministers, and Minister of the Treasury, from January 1995 to May 1996. He has also been both a member of the Board of Directors and Vice President of the Bank for International Settlements, Chairman of the Deputies of the Group of Ten, Director-General of the Bank of Italy, Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund and an official of the International Monetary Fund. He completed postgraduate studies at the Universities of Minnesota and Michigan and received a degree in economics from the University of Florence.
