The IATA Eagle Awards are presented annually to recognise airport and air navigation service providers who provide value for money and quality service to their airline customers.
The Waterford Crystal trophy presented at the IATA Annual General Meeting acknowledges the positive steps being taken by airports and air navigation services to control infrastructure costs and related charges.
Nominations are sought to identify organisations providing an appropriate level of services to international airlines that have demonstrated their commitment to improved productivity in their activities. Organisations eligible for consideration for the award are Air Navigation Service providers, and Airports handling a minimum of 5 million passengers annually.
Award winners are selected by a neutral and independent panel of experienced individuals drawn from aviation industry backgrounds.
The criteria used by the judging panel to determine the winners of the award emphasise the key elements that IATA Member airlines seek from their partners in the provision of commercial air transportation. An important element is the application of the basic policies established by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) for airport and air navigation charges. The criteria serve as guidelines to the Panel who interpret these policies and assess the relative importance of each aspect cited.
The Eagle Award winners are announced at the IATA Annual General Meeting each year.
IATA coordinates with the winning organisation to capitalise on the public relations opportunity created by the presentation.
