This month:
ET issuance in airports
In its efforts to support airlines increase their ET penetration, IATA has been tracking ET issuance from stations around the world.
In 2007, IATA created an ET airport map that displays airports that pose the greatest challenge to ET issuance. Each station on the map has two to nine airlines issuing less than 10% ET departing from the station in Dec 2007. Only airlines with over 30% ET penetration and issuing at least 1,000 total coupons departing from the given station were included.
In December 2007, the 3 most prominent airports for which less than 40% of airlines issued ET were:
- Kathmandu KTM (only 7 of 19 airlines with ET)
- Parakar EVN (only 2 of 7 airlines with ET) and
- Pogdorica TGD (only 1 of 5 airlines with ET)
To see how your airline is doing at various airports, consult your new ET by Departing Airport Report on your IATA StB Extranet site. A guidance document is also available for your reference.
Interline ET- State of the industry
While airlines implemented nearly 2,700 IET agreements by the end of 2007, ET issuance for interline tickets was still only at 68%. This leaves about 1/3 of interline journeys still to be converted.
In the last 5 months of the deadline, airlines need to not only implement more IET agreements with their biggest interline partners, but also begin using their existing IET agreements – a quick and easy way to boost ET figures. Download the TOP 50 carriers list here...
