IATA is at the forefront of a number of global initiatives to reduce the impact of escalating fuel prices. In addition, it offers a range of consultancy services to help organisations reduce operating costs associated with the purchase, supply, handling and use of aviation fuel, benefitting  airlines, airports and aviation authorities.   • Fuel Conservation and Sustainable Development
    Identification, definition and implementation of fleet fuel and energy consumption reduction initiatives, performance of simulation studies to assess potential for fuel savings associated with runway capacity and utilisation, ground flow and gate /stand capacity, and development of fuels related sustainable development strategies.
  • Fuel and Additive Conversion
    Support to safety and technical aspects of aviation fuel usage including fuel and additive conversion planning and implementation, interpretation of specifications, quality standards, and guidelines, implementation of best practice handling and refuelling procedures, troubleshooting and issue investigation.
  • Strategic Sourcing and Procurement:
    Capability and risk assessment of existing fuel procurement and management systems, processes and equipment to identify performance, capacity and support issues and risks, together with definition and implementation support of innovative fuel sourcing and procurement strategies.
  • Fuel Supply Chain Optimisation
    Identification, definition and implementation support of opportunities for fuel supply chain optimisation, including infrastructure and distribution system evaluation from refinery to skin-of-the-aircraft, including total-cost of ownership (TCO) analysis of storage and distribution assets to ensure the most efficient, effective use of limited resources to satisfy ongoing operational requirements.
  • Business Intelligence and Decision Support
    Development of fuel business intelligence and decision support applications leveraging data availability from internal and external systems to provide integrated view of all aspects of a fuel program to enable effective resource management, reduction of fuel expenditure and lower overall total cost of ownership.
