IATA Card Services - CardClear

When an airline is convinced of the benefits of a simplified global process for the management and settlement of payment card sales, there is one significant obstacle to success: the fact that global card sales are not easily accessible because they are spread around the world in numerous IATA BSPs, often expressed in a variety of processing formats.

The IATA CardClear service is the solution to this obstacle, with over 10 years experience of successfully solving the challenges in processing airlines global payment card transactions - allowing airlines to benefit of simplified settlement process.

IATA CardClear collects local card transaction information from numerous IATA BSPs. This information is then consolidated and delivered to an airlines settlement provider - including American Express, Diners Club International, Visa and MasterCard acquirers(including IATA CardAXS), and ATCAN (for UATP). Alternatively the global file can be delivered directly to an airline's accounting system, for the airline to manage onward delivery to settlement providers.

Using IATA CardClear enables airlines to create a single file of global credit card sales and deliver those sales to international settlement providers, realising all of the benefits of central management of card sales.

Today, IATA CardClear is used by 35 IATA members worldwide and handles more than 3 million card transactions a year. IATA CardClear currently has electronic links with 27 IATA BSPs and the Airline Reporting Corporation (ARC) in the USA.

IATA CardClear is constantly seeking to expand the service to additional IATA BSPs around the world and has a number of new connections in development and testing.
