2007 Total Passenger Traffic results
IATA has just released the 2007 total passenger traffic results for the airline industry. These figures are based on actual ticketed passengers on both IATA members and non-member airlines.
In 2007, 831 million passengers flew internationally and 1,249 million flew within their own country of residence. This represents an 11% growth in international traffic and an 8% growth in domestic traffic relative to 2006.

- Data coverage is provided by IATA BSP and sourced through IATA Passenger Intelligence Services. Data is based on actual ticketing, including manual tickets, computer reservation systems and Internet bookings handled by more than 80,000 IATA travel agencies and 76 BSP offices for over 500 airlines as well as IATA estimates .
- World Regions and Entities: For IATA statistical purposes, the world has been split into geographical regions. In defining these regions below, names of countries, territories, dependencies (i.e., “entities”) have been taken from ISO 3166-1981 and interim updates.
- Route Areas: Scheduled international services, including domestic sectors of international flights with the same flight number service, are allocated to route areas according to the regions - as defined above - where the flights originate and terminate.
- Premium Class represents : First Class and Business Class passengers. (P, F, A, J, C, D, I, and Z ticket booking classes)
- Economy Class represents: Full Economy, Discount Economy and Other Class passengers. (W, S, Y,B , H, K, L, M, N, Q, T, V, X, G, U, E, O, and R ticket booking classes)
