Interline e-ticketing (IET) enables a passenger to travel to almost any destination on multiple airlines using just a single electronic ticket (ET). An IET agreement between two airlines is needed to allow them to carry passengers on each other’s flights.
IET enables carriers to maintain this value proposition beyond 2007 after which paper interline tickets will cease to exist.
Benefits for passengers
- Travel to almost any destination on a single electronic
ticket
- Enjoy a consistent service experience through to their
final destination
- Confidence that in case of irregularity, passengers
and their baggage will be efficiently managed to
reach their final destination
Benefits for airlines
- Maintain interline value proposition for customers
- Retain visibility, and ultimately stay in control of
coupons
- Receive faster more accurate settlement of interline
sales and within a standard revenue accounting
process for irregular operations
