Simplifying the Business is an ambitious, industry-wide programme involving five key initiatives. They are:
- 100% electronic ticketing by May 31, 2008
- Bar coded boarding passes
- IATA e-freight – 100% e-freight by 2010 where viable
- Common use self-service check-in
- RFID for baggage management
ET and travel agents
After May 31, 2008, IATA will stop distributing paper tickets. Airlines, agents, airports and others must be prepared for this reality.
