Cost Reduction Initiatives

IATA is currently working on operational cost reduction initiatives that focus on the following two major areas:

  • Operational Fuel Efficiency
  • Operational Cost Reduction Initiative (OCRI)

Operational Fuel Efficiency

The Operational Fuel Efficiency initiative responds to critical realities such as climate change and oil price fluctuations. Its main goals include:

  • Achieving an emission reduction of at least 9.5 million tonnes of CO2
  • Implementing a strategy to reach carbon neutral growth
  • Developing standards and guidelines for an industry carbon offset program

Operational Cost Reduction Initiative (OCRI)

OCRI offers a comprehensive airline support program to reduce operational cost in four major areas of operations that represent 50% of airline total operational costs:

  • Asset Management
  • Flight Operations
  • Technical Operations
  • Ground Operations

Supported by a team of industry experts, OCRI helps your airline achieve significant savings.
