The Commonwealth of Independent States Task Force (CISTF) ensures ongoing hamonisation and implementation of western quality and safety standards in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Due to an old infrastructure in the CIS, carriers operating to CIS destinations encountered off-limit contamination levels. Western standards and filtration specifications are now being implemented in the CIS. CIS airlines are also exchanging fuel sample results for contamination monitoring and analysis of the thermal stability as required in the engine manufacturers required maintenance programme.
The CISTF aids the airlines to share results allowing them to improve the quality and specification situation in the CIS, in cooperation with the CIS Authorities. One of the achievements is the initalisation of Jet A-1 production in Russia with unrestricted use for carriers operating to CIS destinations using an approved international specification.
